John 5

John 5:1-10 The story of the man Jesus Healed at Bethesda. The Bible says in verse 4. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.

There is so much we can learn about Life and our walk with Jesus from this scripture. Firstly, there is always an appointed time for an encounter that God alone controls. The angel went to the pool at a certain time preordained by God Himself. Going there at that appointed time does not guarantee you the answers, healing etc but being the first to step into the pool when it is stirred up, guarantees your healing. This tells us a lot about heavenly things. Anytime an opportunity comes to serve the Lord or do something for the Lord we are mostly the last to speak up or volunteer. Heaven as per this scripture gives everyone who steps into the water first the opportunity to be made well. When Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were told to eat the King’s Delicacies. The bible recorded Daniel as being the one or first to speak up that they should be tried and given vegetables to eat and water to drink. So in Daniel chapter 1:17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. When God blessed the Hebrew boys with spiritual giftings, God gave Daniel a unique spiritual gift that his colleagues did not have which is understanding of all visions and dreams. Peter was one of the Apostles who anytime Jesus asked a question or there was something He would be the one to step out or speak first, an example is when Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was, He was the first to answer this question. And also When Jesus walked on water He asked Jesus to command Him to also walk on water. ( Matthew 14:38 ). Peter went on to become the rock on which the church was built and the leader of the apostles.

Jesus told His disciples  Luke:13:24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. Also, the bible recorded that the water is stirred up and after the stirring the person is made well. This tells us that there is always the stirring before the calm with the walk with God. No matter what you are going through the answer is after the rumblings and the chaos. People would prefer to enter calm water because it looks safer but the miracle is after the stirring. Jesus got a name above every other name after He went on the cross. David got his crown after Goliath and had a lot of chaos with Saul.

Many people are sitting by their answers in the Arena of Grace but just like the man that was made well after 38 years of infirmity are always quick to talk about the hindrances that prevent them from accessing the anointing or the answer. There is always going to be a strive before accessing your breakthrough but you will have to strive instead of sitting around and lamenting over the hindrances. The man who had the infirmity sat there for many years without devising a strategy on how to overcome the fact that people stepped down on him when it came to entering the water first. Zacheus found his own formula by climbing the tree after he realized he couldn’t penetrate the crowd to meet Jesus.

The final thing I want to talk about is the mercy of Jesus. His ability to bypass all set-down rules and protocols. I believe God instructs but men decide to trust so much in one formula without realizing God is unique and His ways are many. God is a unique supreme being and His ways are unique. It is a beautiful thing for us to ask Jesus to know His ways. So Jesus appears on the scene and decides to bypass the protocols eg. the angel who appears to stir the water at a certain time and the healing on the sabbath This healing also teaches us that when our human ability fails us to access an ordained blessing etc by contacting the Master Jesus sincerely with our issues, He is merciful and can Heal us. God bless you.
