John Chapter 1

John 1:6-7

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.

I believe we are all sent to the world by God for people to believe in the name of Jesus through us. What this means is that every action, word, motive or decision we take counts toward whether people will believe in Jesus or not. By the grace of God, we are on the frontline and our works ( in church or home ) should lead people into believing in Jesus Christ. Every prophet, apostle, seer and man of God did works that led people to believe in God. All the signs and wonders that were done by them ( eg. Elijah shutting the heavens for no rain to fall, Elisha’s recovery of axe from the waters of Jordan, the work God did through Moses during the exodus, Gideon’s victory etc ) led to the people believing there is a superior God above. Witnessing is a must for the kingdom. We should use every opportunity to tell people about Jesus no matter who they are. When Joseph was called upon by Pharaoh to interpret a dream He quickly used the opportunity to witness to them the God he served.

Genesis 41:15 & 16

15 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” 16 So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

He quickly pointed Pharaoh to the God He served. No matter how little the opportunity we get, let us always make sure that our actions, words etc will get people to believe in Jesus.

When you continue to read John chapter one, John the Baptist kept talking about Jesus, Jesus and Jesus. Let us never let the witnessing of Jesus leave our mouths because I believe this is the Call.

Let us read something from John:35-42

35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. 36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “Where are You staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour). 40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the [l]Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of [m]Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, [n]A Stone).

Thanks to John the baptists words, two of his own disciples quickly made their minds up to follow Jesus Christ. Our witnessing should always lead people to Jesus and John the Baptist’s testimony did exactly that. Once the two followed Jesus they asked Jesus an interesting question, where was He staying? Jesus quickly gave them the invitation to come and witness the wonders of following Him. Do we know where Jesus dwells? Have we asked to see where He stays? There is so much we can speak to Jesus about that isn’t about us but about Jesus Himself. Have we asked Jesus what His plans are for Ghana? Let’s ask questions that will let our Father Jesus give us glorious invitations to come up hither. There is so much He wants to show us. We spend too much time asking for things for ourselves as believers, let’s spend some time knowing where the master dwells, His plans for us etc.

The final thing I want to highlight is John 1 40-42.

40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the [l]Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus.

When Andrew heard about Jesus and followed Jesus, the next thing was he looked for his own brother to share the Good News with him and he brought his brother to Jesus. As I always say it is critical you witness to your family first. That was the first thing Andrew did when He met Jesus. There are so many people in your family, work colleagues and close circle of friends that need the gospel or some of the blessed messages you get from church. Ask God to show you through a dream or impression and begin to preach the gospel to them. I have been witnessing to my family members for some time now and it is amazing what God is doing in their lives now. They yearn for Jesus. God bless you and please ask God to reveal to you people around you who need the gospel and you will be shocked even people you thought were in the faith will be shown to you because God needs them for personal fellowship that through you they can see the Great Light.

God bless you.
