Revelations 21: 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Welcome to 2021, it is only by God’s grace you made it to 2021. 2020 proved to us that really we are in the end times and tomorrow is not guaranteed but by Grace, we prevail in Jesus’ name. It is important to start the year with Christ being the foundation of the year. Remember to start your year with Jesus Christ being the solid foundation on which the year will be built.
In Matthew 7:24-27 the bible says “24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
Let this be a year where you will read and hear the word of God and will do it and that is the lesson from this scripture. Once we enter a new year we have new year resolutions, plans and ambitions for the year ahead. Have you added Jesus Christ to your plan for the year ahead, if you haven’t then I am here to share a few tips on how you can add Jesus to your 2021.
Start the year by adding Jesus to your daily life. The Bible isn’t a book to read occasionally or when you are in trouble or in need. The Bible is the bread of life. In John 6:35 the bible says “35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. “ You need to feed yourself with the scriptures on a daily basis. This is called a quiet time (A few minutes feeding on the word of Jesus). Without Jesus you will hunger and thirst spiritually so let us feed ourselves with the word of God. You can begin to read the new testament at least one or more chapters a day depending on your work or school schedule. There are a few bible reading plans out there. You can also download apps like Bible Reading Scheduler on Android and IOS. They can help you set daily reminders to read the bible and also help you to plan your bible reading.
You need prayer time. Give it a name eg. Time with my Father or time with Jesus or time with the Lover of my soul. Set daily reminders on your phone to prompt you when it is time to pray. You can find a time during the day or evening that you can spend at least ten-fifteen minutes praying to God. It will change your walk with God as it did with mine. God is your Father and you need to make time every day to speak to Him. Read Matthew Chapter 6 to learn how to pray. If you do not know what to say for ten to fifteen minutes, just say the Lord’s prayer or Psalm 23 multiple times and Jesus will give you utterance as the Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians Chapter 6:19 that “19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,”
Thirdly get some books or materials on people’s experiences with God and fundamental biblical truths. It will boost your faith and teach you more about God. Two books that transformed my walk with God are Good Morning Holy Spirit by Benny Hinn and How to be Led by God by Kenneth Hagin. Get books about Jesus from sound preachers and it will be a blessing to you.
Other things that you can also add to this year are fasting at least once a month and listening to very good worship songs often. There are very good gospel musicians out there like William Mcdowell, Joe Mettle, Nathaniel Bassey, and Sinach to name a few.
God bless you and I pray this prayer for you.
Ephesians 1:15-20
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
